about

It all began when Rubin, aged 14, met Jon Anderson of the progressive rock group Yes, during a chance encounter at a local theater.

After seeing a video of Rubin’s guitar playing, Anderson was “so impressed with the young maestro’s talent” that he offered to help Rubin develop his composition, and eventually become his mentor.

Anderson, a huge fan of classical music, suggested to Rubin that he create his own concerto for guitar, inspired by the likes of Rodrigo’s “Concierto De Aranjuez.”

As the two began writing the piece, Anderson discovered that Rubin had a unique and natural gift for orchestration and arrangement.

In October of 2015, at the age of 20, Rubin made his debut as a composer with the premiere of Guitar Concerto, performed by the San Luis Chamber Orchestra.
